Naxos Town: Where to Stay in Chora

The Chora of Naxos is a wonderful little old town surrounding the spectacular Venetian Castle of Naxos, right opposite the magnificent Temple of Apollo. A stay in Chora, or close to Naxos’ Marina is a great solution if you are staying on the island for a few days only or if you do not plan to rent a car.

Choosing to sty in this area will allow you to reach some of the beaches nearer to the center, and be close to the best tavernas, restaurants, and bars in town. It will be easy to visit the museums as well as to enjoy Naxos nightlife. To reach beaches such as Agios Prokopios or Agia Anna, you can either walk or take the city bus.

View of Apollonas, Naxos.

Apollonas is a small town on the northern coast of Naxos, about 35 km from Naxos Chora. Better known for the remains of the 12-meter long Kouros, a male statue left abandoned in the area hundreds of years ago, Apollonas is a small fishing village with a couple of tiny beaches that attract those holidaymakers who want to relax and disconnect in this less popular area of Naxos.
