Although Paleokastritsa beaches are often described as the coldest on the island, they are certainly superb, and most people don’t seem to care about the temperature of the water once in the area.

All of the beaches offer the possibility to practice water sports, and you can also rent umbrellas, motorboats, and even canoes.

Some Paleokastritsa beaches can only be reached by boat, so it is a good idea to start exploring Agios Spyridon.

Built by the Empress of Austria in 1890 this stunning palace was home to the last German Kaiser during World War I.

The palace has been beautifully restored and is now home to stunning statues depicting various Greek gods (that fascinate kids and adults alike!), ceiling frescos, and beautiful architectural examples from the nineteenth century.

The palace and the museum are great stops for an hour or two, especially in the summer to get out of the sun and enjoy the fantastic gardens or grab a bite to eat at the on-site restaurant.
